Who couldn't adore these beautiful trailing flowers that come in multiple colors including orange, red, and yellow? Their fun, round leaves just seem to take me back to the "good ole days." I am sure I have been seeing these for quite sometime. It wasn't until a few years ago though that I truly learned about this plant. I did not realize they were edible...yes, you can eat the leaves and flowers of this plant!
Nasturtiums bloom summer and fall and appreciate full sun. You may be tempted to fertilize your nasturtiums for more blooms but since they love poor soils, this will usually yield more leaves at the expense of flowers.
Are you wondering what nasturtiums taste like? Well, the name in Latin means "nose twist" and they have a very peppery taste which makes them a great addition to salads and other dishes...try them in tuna or chicken salad or simply use them to garnish your plates as they are harmless but oh-so cheerful. Keep in mind these tasty little jewels also pack high vitamin content of A, C and D. They offer ten times the amount of Vitamin C found in lettuce. Are you telling me you now need some? We currently offer three varieties and expect to carry even more varieties soon as they have proved to be very good sellers. :-)
